1. Who we are

JyotishMatch is an online astrology app that provides Vedic Rāśi readings, Compatibility analysis, Kundli charts and Soul Destiny insights. We aim to deliver personalised guidance with as little data as possible.

2. What data we collect

We only collect the information needed to create and secure your account, generate astrology readings, and keep the app running reliably.

Account information

• Email address (for login and password reset)
• Password (stored securely by Firebase Authentication, not in plain text)
• Optional display name

Astrology profile information

• Birth date
• Birth time (if known)
• “Time unknown” flag (if you don’t know your birth time)
• Birth city and country
• Birth timezone (IANA timezone, e.g. Asia/Kolkata)

Usage & technical information

• Basic app usage data (e.g. which features you use, token status)
• Standard log data such as IP address, device type and browser details

We do not collect your home address, government ID numbers, or photos/media from your device.

3. Payments

All payments are handled by Stripe.

When you purchase tokens, your payment details (such as card number and expiry date) are processed directly by Stripe. JyotishMatch does not see or store your full card details at any time.

We may receive from Stripe:

• A confirmation that a payment was successful or failed
• The last few digits of your card and card brand (for reference only)
• Metadata used to link the token purchase to your account (e.g. user ID, number of tokens)

This is used only to apply tokens to your account, prevent fraud, and meet basic accounting requirements.

4. How we use your data

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your JyotishMatch account
• Generate personalised astrology readings (Rāśi, Compatibility, Kundli, Soul Destiny)
• Remember your profile and settings between sessions
• Handle password resets securely
• Run analytics and error logging to fix issues and improve the app
• Prevent abuse, fraud or misuse of the service

We do not sell your data or use your email address for newsletter-style marketing campaigns.

5. Legal basis (UK / EU users)

If you are in the UK or EU, we rely on the following legal bases for processing:

• Contract – we need some data (like email and birth details) to provide the service you request.
• Legitimate interests – for security, app improvement and preventing abuse.
• Legal obligations – for accounting or tax records related to purchases.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as it is needed to:

• Maintain your JyotishMatch account
• Provide your astrology readings
• Meet legal or accounting requirements

If you stop using the app for a long time, we may remove or anonymise your data as part of routine housekeeping.

7. Where your data is stored and processed

JyotishMatch uses well-known service providers:

• Firebase / Google Cloud – for authentication and database
• Stripe – for payment processing
• Hosting and logging providers – to run, secure and monitor the app

This means your data may be stored on servers outside the UK/EU. These providers use standard security measures and data protection safeguards.

8. Sharing your data

We only share your data with:

• Service providers that help run the app (such as Firebase, Stripe, hosting and logging tools)
• Authorities or regulators if we are legally required to do so (for example, to comply with a court order)

We do not share or sell your data for advertising purposes.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights over your personal data, including:

• Right to access the data we hold about you
• Right to correct inaccurate information
• Right to request deletion of certain data (where we have no legal reason to keep it)
• Right to object to certain types of processing
• Right to complain to a data protection regulator in your country
